Before renting our aircraft, we need a signed copy of this form along with copies of key documentation. At the bottom, the CFI must verify your currency and sign-off.
Van Anda Aviation Aircraft Rental Agreement
In consideration of the rental fees paid and the covenants contained herein, including completion and signing of the “Pilot (Renter) Information” form and initialing each page of the document, Van Anda Aviation, hereinafter referred to as the “Operator,” hereby leases to the “Renter” the designated airplane hereinafter referred to as the “airplane”.

- Renter acknowledges and agrees that the airplane is the property of the operator and payment is due upon return of the airplane at the completion of the rental period.
- Renter acknowledges that he will review the airplane logbooks before the first flight of any rental period and that he has inspected the airplane and has found it in good mechanical condition and airworthy for the flight intended.
- Renter agrees to return the airplane at the scheduled time, weather permitting.
- Renter agrees to properly secure the airplane after each flight.
- Renter expressly acknowledges personal liability to pay operator on demand.
- Hourly time charges computed at the applicable HOBBS meter posted rates until the airplane is returned to the operator.
- A minimum charge of the applicable HOBBS meter rate times half of the flight reservation time will be applied. See (5) for exception for multiple-day rentals.
- Rental rate is per hour “wet” and includes fuel and oil. Operator will reimburse the renter for fuel purchased at the current price of 100LL at OAA. Rent time is based on the HOBBS hour meter time. Renter is responsible to check and record the meter time on the airplane flight card, to the highest tenth, prior to starting the engine for the first flight.
- Flight reservations are scheduled and the airplane may be re-assigned if the renter does not arrive within 30 minutes beyond the scheduled time.
- Any renter who fails to keep a scheduled flight appointment without giving 24 hours notice may be charged a “no show” fee of $20 per hour scheduled, up to a maximum of $80.
- For multiple day reservations a minimum charge of 3 hours per day at the applicable HOBBS meter posted rate will apply.
- Any loss or damage to the airplane, its components, parts or equipment during the rental period, resulting from the operation of the airplane both on the ground and in the air, including weather damages while parked and tied down.
- All landing fees, parking costs, hanger charges, tie down costs until the airplane is returned to the operator.
- Renter agrees not to tamper with, molest, or attempt to repair any parts of the airplane or its accessories, but will telephone the operator collect for instructions when encountering any mechanical malfunctions.
- If the airplane is abandoned away from the home-base airport, the renter will be liable for the charged pilot expenses plus fight time at dual rates to return the airplane to the home-base airport.
- Renter agrees to report any airplane damages, accident or incident to the Operator as soon as possible.
- Renter agrees that the rental airplane shall not be used or operated:
- By anyone other than the signed renter pilot operating the airplane from the left front seat, (except instructors).
- For any illegal purposed, in any race, speed test or contest of any kind.
- Outside the limits of the Continental United States and only land at airports on the paved runway of at least 2500 feet.
- To carry passengers or property for compensation or hire.
- For any flight for which the renter is not rated or certified.
- Renter agrees to reimburse the operator in the event suit is required by the operator to recover possession of the airplane or to enforce any of the terms, covenants, and conditions hereof, or to collect any sum of money, damages or costs and reasonable attorney's fees incurred by the operator in such suit or suits.
- This agreement may be superseded at a later date, the renter agrees to abide by the terms of the latest version. The operator will make effort to inform renters of changes, however, the operator reserves the right to make changes without notice.
- Renter, by affixing his signature hereon, does agree to the following flight operations safety rules, emergency maintenance procedures and insurance provisions.
Flight Operations Safety Rules
✔ Pilot Certificate - Renter must hold and furnish for copying a valid and current pilot certificate with appropriate ratings. The person named on this rental contract shall be the “Pilot in Command” and fly the airplane from the left or pilots seat.
✔ Currency – Renter must possess and furnish for copying evidence of a successfully completed biennial flight review (BFR), log book currency for the flight intended, a valid medical certificate and a valid Drivers license. First time rental must be approved by check flight with a pilot or instructor designated by the operator, in the airplane rental.
Transient Maintenance Policy
If there is a breakdown or problem with the airplane:
- Call the operator advising of the nature of the breakdown or problem noted – if possible, call after consulting with the local repair facility as to needed repairs/costs.
- DO NOT COMMIT TO ANY EXPENSE FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIR TO THE RENTAL AIRPLANE UNTIL REPAIR IS APPROVED BY THE OPERATOR.
- The operator will not reimburse the renter for any repairs not specifically authorized, not any overtime or call out labor charges not approved in advance by a representative from the operator. Nor will the operator reimburse the renter for expenses incurred as a result of mechanical delay, including, car rental, hotel/motel expense, meals, airline fares etc.
- Repairs are to be documented on the repair facility invoice an all replaced parts are to be returned unless waived by operator.
Insurance Coverage
Van Anda Aviation maintains insurance coverage, including hull insurance for the airplane. The policy covers Van Anda Aviations liability up to $1,000,000 combined bodily injury and property damage, limited to $100,000 per passenger. The coverage protects Van Anda Aviation and it should be noted that the renter is not expressly covered. In the event of an accident, be aware that the renter pilot will be responsible for all damage/injury to property, persons, and/or the airplane. Therefore, renters are strongly encouraged to purchase “Non-owned aircraft insurance” covering the airplane for its full replacement value.
